The child theme file only overwrite the file that are in the main theme top folder.
If you want to do something like this you need to use the functions hooks to register the same function or javascript.

I currently have 3.1.2 version of the theme in production with child theme (version 1.50).
For the first time, I will update the parent theme to the latest version, but I've done test before.
I have put in the child theme all the modified files of the parent theme, but there are serverals files that do not work for me:
- \thefox_child_theme\functions\rd_theme_functions\rd-custom-excerpt.php
- \thefox_child_theme\functions\rd_theme_functions\rd-custom-breadcrumbs.php
- \thefox_child_theme\js\custom.js
I have copied these three files following the folder structure, but they dont work. ¿What I can do?
