Alternatively, we want to integrate these icons manually in different places. How would that work?
I would like to replace the standard library of FontAwesome with the pro version. I have purchased a license. Is this possible and if so how?

You would need to update the theme file and icon list file which is not something easy to do.

Hello Simon,
Replacing the icon by the premium icon is an hard thing to do.
For each icon you have a special code, you would need to make a file for the wpbakery page builder to generate each icon in the icon selector.
Including the premium font and using custom css to change the icon would be a lot easier if you only need to use the icons in few places.

You would need to set the font file via a child theme, then edit the theme css to include the icon you want to use where you want to use it.
