i have staff order on descending from "order". I have a staff with order 1, a staff with order 2, and staff with order 3. I would expect it to show on my page as staff 1, staff 2, staff 3. but it shows as staff 3, staff 2, staff 1. if i toggle to ascending order, then it shows staff 6, staff 5, staff 4, and so on.
It seems to be the child theme, you made modification to the staff function, it seems to be the source of the issue, try to re-contact the person who did the modification, they should be able to fix it.

I have only uninstalled plugins - not installed new ones. I just noticed it when I sent the message. "order by" and drag and drop order doesn't stick.
