In fact update are not needed if your site works fine, we made an update for the wordpress 4.3 version, but if you didn\'t updated wordpress and your site is currently working without any problem then you should not update anything.

If you made customization to the php or css file of the theme then update will make you loose those modifications, if you only made modifcations to page or theme panel then you can update without loosing anything.
