I have been trying to add a navigation filter to my portfolio gallery. I will select classic navigation but I can't seam to get any form of navigation to appear. Did I miss a step? or do you can any documentation that can help with setup for this?

For the portfolio filter, you need to use the tags not the category.
This won't be a navigation tho, it will only filter the posts loaded in the page.
Make sure to select "All" tags when creating the portfolio module or when updating it.
